Keep Scotland Beautiful | Summer Clean

Pledge 500 miles and help #CleanUpScotland
We work in partnership with local authorities to clear roadside rubbish and tidy verges on our southern routes; 1,474 bags of litter have been collected from the A77 and A78 (Monkton to Spittalhill) weighing as much as ten grand pianos.
54% of litter on our roads is caused by people eating and drinking on the go. This litter is not only a blight to our environment and harmful to wildlife but is also extremely dangerous and expensive for our operatives to recover. We urge everyone to be a responsible road user, take your litter home, and protect the natural beauty of our country.
Join us in pledging miles towards Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Million Mile Mission where the amount of time you spend cleaning up your local area can be converted into miles. Pledge here.
Let us know on social media if you or your community are taking part by using the hashtag #CleanUpScotland and tag us @SWTRUNKROADS. Please remember to ensure your activities follow Scottish Government guidance on group meeting sizes outdoors to ensure your participants are all keeping safe.
Ways you can get involved:
- Organise a private event within your local community.
- Make your litter pick count and do a litter survey to help create snapshot of litter in Scotland.
- Help spread the message and encourage others to get involved with Keep Scotland Beautiful’s handy resources.
