Third Party Works: Emergency Repair
News release

BURST WATER MAIN – EAST KILBRIDE EXPRESSWAY
Scottish Water is warning road users of traffic management on the busy A725 East Kilbride Expressway in Blantyre.
A water main running beneath the westbound carriageway taking traffic from the M74 towards East Kilbride has burst.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Unfortunately it has been necessary to close the inside lane because of the water running along the carriageway and to allow us to work safely.
“The repair needed is complicated and will take another few days to complete.
“We would ask road users to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys until we have completed the repair, all being well by the middle of next week.”
The water main supplies three businesses in the Whistleberry Road area of Blantyre. Alternative measures have been put in place to maintain supply while the work is carried out.
