Maintenance on the A701 at Kirkland, Nethermill and South of St Anne’s has been rescheduled and will now commence on Monday 6th February until Friday 10th February 2023.

ESSENTIAL RESURFACING ON THE A701 COMMENCES MONDAY 6TH FEBRUARY 2023

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking essential resurfacing on the A701 at Kirkland, Nethermill, and South of St Anne’s from Monday 30th January to Friday 10th February 2023, between the hours of 7pm and 6am, each night.

This scheme will benefit around 6,200 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The work will be carried out using overnight road closures. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while these essential works take place.

Works will take place as follows:

Phase 1 – Southern closure point will be at Kirkland farm junction. Northern closure point will be at Lochmaben junction, north of Singleton park care home – Overnight closures 6th and 7th Feb, 7pm to 6 am.

Phase 2 – Southern closure point will be at Lochmaben junction, north of Singleton park care home. Northern closure point will be at the northern side of St Anns Bridge – Overnight closures 8th, 9th and 10th Feb, 7pm to 6 am.

During the A701 closures, traffic will be diverted as follows:

Northbound traffic will take the A75 east to join the A709 eastbound at Brownrigg Roundabout, continue to Lockerbie and turn left on to the B7076 to head north, where it will join the A701 southbound south of Beattock.

Southbound traffic will head north on the A701 and turn right on to the B7076 south of Beattock, continue south to Lockerbie and turn right on to the A709 to head west to Brownrigg Roundabout, before joining the A75 westbound to reach the A701.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
