ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE ON THE A726 BETWEEN RIGHEAD ROUNDABOUT AND COLLEGE MILTON COMMENCES FRIDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential maintenance on the A726 between Righead Roundabout and College Milton. The work will take place over two full weekend closures.
This scheme, with a value of £220,000, will benefit around 8,960 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
Weekend One: Works scheduled to begin at 8pm on Friday 10th September will be carried out using a full Eastbound closure with an additional fast lane Westbound lane closure ending at 6am Sunday 12th September. From 8pm on Saturday 11th September until 6am on Monday 13th September there will be a full Westbound closure with an additional fast lane Eastbound lane closure.
Weekend Two: Works scheduled from 8pm on Friday 17th September until 6am on Sunday 19th September will be carried out using a full Eastbound closure. From 8pm on Saturday 18th September until 6am on Monday 20th September there will be a full Westbound closure.
For Eastbound traffic, the diversion will take traffic off the A727 at Stewartfield Junction. Traffic will take the first exit at Stewartfield roundabout to join Stewartfield Way Northbound. Traffic will then follow Stewartfield Way for approx. 4km until meeting the A749 Kingsgate Roundabout. Traffic can then take the second exit here to continue Northbound on the A749 or take the third exit to continue southbound to join the A725 to head towards Blantyre, the M74 and East Kilbride town centre. Traffic travelling Westbound will follow this route in reverse. Additional local diversion routes will be in use to aide traffic flows.
Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
