A76 | Brock's Factory Resurfacing
ESSENTIAL RESURFACING ON THE A76 KIRKCONNEL TO SANQUHAR COMMENCES MONDAY 23RD JANUARY 2023
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential resurfacing on the A76 at Brock’s Factory between Kirkconnel and Sanquhar from Monday 23rd January until Tuesday 31st January 2023.
This scheme will benefit around 3,800 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
The work will be carried out using overnight road closures with a signed diversion in operation between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night from Monday 23rd January until Sunday 29th January 2023. There will also be temporary traffic lights in place between the hours of 6am and 7pm each day from Tuesday 24th January until Saturday 28th January 2023 to facilitate the cooling of deeper sections of treatment.
In addition, from Saturday 28th January until Tuesday 31st January 2023 a daytime convoy will be in operation. We thank road users for their co-operation and patience while this essential work takes place.
During the closures, the following signed diversion will be in place: A76 northbound traffic will leave the A76 turning right onto the C133N Holestane Road near Drumlanrig Castle, then turn left onto the A702 north of Carronbridge and continue north to Abington services roundabouts where it will join the B7078 and continue to Millbank, turning left onto the A70 Ayr Road east to Cumnock to re-join the A76 at Dettingen Roundabout.
A76 southbound traffic will travel north through New Cumnock and take the exit at Dettingen Roundabout onto the A70 through Cumnock to the B7078 and then proceed to Abington Services, before taking the A702 south to Carronbridge. Traffic wishing to head north on the A76 will be directed south to Thornhill roundabout where they will be able to turn and travel north. Other local routes will also be available.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
