Third Party Works | A76 Auchinleck
Scheme Summary
VITAL RAILWAY IMPROVEMENT WORK NEAR TEMPLETON ROUNDABOUT, AUCHINLECK
Network Rail will shortly begin a £1.4m package of vital improvement work to replace a railway bridge at Knagshill Farm in East Ayrshire, just off the A76 between C50 Knowe and Templeton Roundabout.
The 11-week programme starts from Monday, 4 September 2023.
To allow engineers to complete the work in the safest and most efficient way, traffic management will be in place for the duration of the programme. This will be a combination of a lane closure at the start and end of the project, facilitated by temporary traffic lights - the same stretch of the A76 (see plan below) will also have a 30mph speed limit in place in between the lane closure works.
Network Rail said: “The vital work at Knagshill is part of our commitment to run a safe and reliable railway. Once this work completes, it will not only improve the look of the bridge but extend its lifespan for up to 20-years, as the structure will be stronger and better protected against the elements.
“While some delays will be unavoidable for road users, having a temporary speed restriction in place allows us to safely carry out this work. We would like to thank the local community for their patience and support during this time.”
