POSTPONED: A77 Maybole North Gateway Resurfacing

This scheme has been postponed and a new date for this works will be issued in due course. We apologise for any inconvenience.

As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Amey is resurfacing the A77 between the Cassillis Hotel and the Maybole North Gateway.

To deliver this important road surface improvement project as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to close the trunk road in this area from the evening of Friday 16th until the early morning of Monday 19th of October, with a further two overnight closures on the Monday and Tuesday.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing protocols throughout the project, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Lewis Dorans, Amey’s project lead on the programme said:

“This is an extremely important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working. It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety. To condense the working period, this project will be carried out under a full weekend closure, reducing the longer term impact on this community as it recovers at this time.

“On behalf of Transport Scotland, Amey would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience while we deliver this important road surface improvement project.”

The works will be delivered under a full weekend closure of the trunk road, with two subsequent overnight closures implemented during the following times:

  • 8pm on Friday 16th until 6am on Monday 19th of October
  • 8pm on Monday 19th until 6am on Tuesday 20th October
  • 8pm on Tuesday 20th until 6am on Wednesday 21st October

Diversions will be in place throughout this weekend closure. Drivers are advised to allow plenty of additional time for their journeys.

It will also be necessary to implement some temporary parking restrictions in the below named streets:

John Knox St - Culzean Rd - B7023 – Redbrae - Abbot St – Kirkland - St Cuthberts Rd and St Cuthbert’s Street

Please see the parking map below for further details:

Following discussions with the local community and stakeholders, Cairns and St Cuthbert’s Primary Schools and businesses Interpak and Stockpak will allow residents to utilise their parking facilities.
