A78 Pennyburn Roundabout to Sharphill Roundabout
23 November 2020
ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE ON A78 PENNYBURN ROUNDABOUT COMMENCES 23rd NOVEMBER
Essential drainage maintenance on the A78 Pennyburn Roundabout to Sharphill Roundabout will take place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, each night from Monday 23rd to Saturday 28th November 2020.
This scheme, with a value of £6000, will benefit around 4,955 vehicles using this route each day, by allowing the filter drain to operate at its full capacity and prevent flooding of the carriageway. The work will also reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in future.
A full closure of the northbound A78 between Pennyburn Roundabout and Sharpbill Roundabout is required, with a signed diversion in operation.
Northbound traffic will be diverted through Stevenson taking the exit at Pennyburn Roundabout to follow the A738 Glencairn Street. From here, vehicles will follow the B714 to re-join the A78 at Sharphill Roundabout.
Southbound traffic will not be affected.
This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services and North Ayrshire Council.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
