UPDATE (07/03/22): Night-time works on the M8 between Junctions 30 and 31 will now require full overnight closures of the M8 eastbound Junction 30 off-slip road to the M898 and the closure of the M8 Junction 30 westbound on-slip road from the M898. Traffic will be diverted via the M8 at Junction 29. These closures will apply on Monday 7th March and Tuesday 8th March 2022, Wednesday 16th March until Friday 18th March 2022, and Monday 21st March and Tuesday 22nd March 2022.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the Southwest Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential maintenance on the M8 between Junctions 30 and 31 from Monday 7th March 2022 for 12 weeks. Traffic management will remain in place 24/7 with a combination of day and night working.

This scheme, with a value of approximately £1.3m, will benefit around 25,100 vehicles using this route each day, by upgrading the central reserve barrier and protecting existing structures which will improve safety and decrease the risk of incident or injury.

The majority of works will be carried out under dayworks using an offside lane closure in both the westbound and eastbound directions.

Overnight works are required when undertaking work next to the structures and will require both the nearside and offside lanes to be closed with the hard shoulder used for traffic. The overnight works are programmed as follows:

  • Monday 7th March - Tuesday 8th March 2022
  • Wednesday 16th March - Friday 18th March 2022
  • Monday 21st March - Tuesday 22nd March 2022

A temporary barrier will be put in place as the existing centre barrier will be removed and a temporary 40mph speed limit will be in effect throughout the duration of the works.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
