CYCLIC MAINTENANCE ON THE M8, M77, AND A737 COMMENCES TUESDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER 2023 

 

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential cyclic maintenance on the M8, M77, and A737 at various locations between Tuesday 26th September and Sunday 8th October 2023. Work will take place overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am.  

This scheme comprises of a series of cyclic maintenance activities at each location including the cleaning of gantries and clearing of gullies, manholes, and catch-pits as well as Cat 1 road surface patching. Benefitting road users by improving the condition and performance of the carriageway.  

The work will be carried out using a series of overnight closures on these routes. Signed diversion routes will be in operation, and we thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential maintenance is underway.  

The full programme of works will take place as follows:

 

Tuesday 26^th September closure 1

M8 eastbound Junction 13 on-slip road closure

Diversion: Traffic will follow the road and turn left on to Provan road to turn left on to Cumbernauld rd, turn right onto B765 and finally, turn right and re-join the M8.

 

M8 eastbound Junction 12 off-slip road closure

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 11 and at the junction, turn right on to the B765. Traffic will then turn right on to the M8 westbound and leave the M8 westbound at Junction 12.

 

M8 eastbound Junction 12 to Junction 11 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 12 and at the junction, go straight across the junction on to the B765 Gartloch Road. Traffic will then turn right and re-join M8 at the Junction 12 on-slip.

 

Tuesday 26^th September closure 2

M8 westbound Junction 15 to Junction 19 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 15 Castle Street and at the junction, turn right onto Castle Street. At the junction, traffic will turn left on to the A804 Baird Street and turn right on to the A804 Dobbies Loan to continue on the A804 Phoenix Road. Traffic will then turn left onto North Street and continue on the A804 Newton Street to re-join the M8 at the Junction 19 on-slip.

 

Wednesday 27^th September closure 1

M8 eastbound Junction 12 to Junction 11 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 12 and at the junction, turn right on to A80 Cumbernauld Road. At the junction, traffic will turn left on to the A8 Edinburgh Road and turn left on to the B765 Stepps Road to turn left and re-join M8 eastbound.

 

Wednesday 27^th September closure 2.

M77 northbound Junction 1 to M8 and secondary carriageway links road closure northbound.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M77 at Junction 1 and at the junction, turn left on to Drumbeck Road. At the junciton, traffic will turn right on to M8 eastbound and follow signs for M8 or M74.

 

Thursday 28^th September closure 1.

M8 westbound Junction 10 to Junction 12 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 via Junction 10 and turn right onto Bartiebeith Road. Traffic will then turn right on to the A8 Edinburgh Road and turn right on to the A80 Cumbernauld Road to re-join M8 at the Junction 12 on-slip.

 

Thursday 28^th September closure 2.

M8 eastbound Junction 22 to M8 secondary carriageway road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 eastbound at Junction 19 Bothwell st and turn left onto Pitt Street. Traffic will then turn left on to St Vincent Street, turn left and re-join the M8 westbound at Junction 19. Traffic will then leave the M8 at Junction 19 West Street, turn left on to West Street, turn left onto Wallace Street and follow signs for M74 southbound Junction 1.

 

Friday 29^th September closure 1.

M74 southbound Junction 1 to M77 southbound and M8 westbound links road closure northbound.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M74 via Junction 1 and turn left onto Carnoustie Street to turn right onto Scotland Street. At the roundabout, traffic will take the 3rd exit onto Seaward Street and at the junction, traffic will turn left on Paisley Road West and follow signs for M77 southbound and M8 westbound.

 

Friday 29^th September closure 2.

M8 sounthbound Junction 22 to M77 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 24 and turn right onto Helen Street. At the roundabout, traffic will take the 3rd exit on to Edminston Drive and at the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit on to Drumbeck Road to re-join the M77 southbound at Junction 1.

 

Sunday 1^st October closure 1.

M8 westbound Junction 27 to Junction 29 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at the Junction 27 off-slip and continue on Renfrew Road to turn right on to the A726 Weir Street. Traffic will turn left on to St James Street, turn right on to the A726 Greenock Road and finally, at St James' Roundabout, follow signs for the A737, M8 westbound and Glasgow Airport.

 

Sunday 1^st October closure 2.

M8 eastbound Junction 29 to Junction 27 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 29 and at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit on to the A726. At the junction, traffic will turn left onto St James Street and follow the road on to Niddrie Street. At the junction, traffic will turn left on to Renfrew Road and at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit to remain on Renfrew rd. At the roundabout, traffic will take the 3rd exit on to the A741 Renfrew Road and at the next roundabout, traffic will take the 2nd exit to re-join the M8 eastbound at Junction 27.

 

Monday 2^nd October closure 1.

M8 westbound Junction 22 to Junction 24 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 22 on to the M77 southbound and leave the M77 at Junction 1. At the junction, traffic will turn right onto Dumbreck Road and at the traffic lights, turn left onto Paisley Road West. At the roundabout, traffic will take the 2nd exit on to Helen Street to re-join the M8 westbound at Junction 24.

 

Monday 2^nd October closure 2.

M8 eastbound Junction 22 to Junction 19 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 and join the M8 secondary carriageway. Traffic will be directed to leave the secondary carriageway at M74 Junction 1 and at the junction, turn right onto Paisley Road. Traffic will follow the road on to Kingston Street and turn left on to A77 King George V. Traffic will turn left on to Broomielaw and turn right on to North St to re-join the M8 at the Junction 19 on-slip.

 

Tuesday 3^rd October closure 1.

M8 westbound Junction 24 to Junction 25 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 24 and at the junction, turn right on to Helen Street. At the roundabout, traffic will take the 1st exit on to Shieldhall Road and at the next roundabout, follow the 2nd exit to stay on Shieldhall Road. Traffic will then turn left on to Fifty Pitches road and at the roundabout, take the 2nd excit to re-join the M8 westbound at Junction 25.

Tuesday 3^rd October closure 2.

M8 eastbound Junction 27 to Junction 26 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 27 and at the roundabout, will take the 2nd exit on to the A741 Paisley Road and turn right onto Glebe Street. At the roundabout, traffic will be directed to take the 3rd exit on to the A8 Glasgow Road and at the next roundabout, traffic will take the 3rd exit on to Hillington Road. At the Hillington Interchange, traffic will take the 1st exit and re-join M8 eastbound at Junction 26.

 

Wednesday 4^th October closure 1.

M8 eastbound Junction 24 to Junction 22 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 24 and at the junction, will turn left on to Helen Street. At the roundabout, traffic will take the 3rd exit on to Edminston Drive and at the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit on to Broomland Road. Traffic will continue along the road to Dumbrek Road and re-join the M77 northbound via the Junction 1 on-slip.

 

Wednesday 4^th October closure 2.

M77 southbound Junction 2 to Junction 3 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M77 at Junction 2 and at the junction, will turn left on to the B762. Traffic will then turn right on to Boylestone Road, turn right on to Kennishead Road and turn left on to the A726 Nitshill rd to re-join the M77 southbound at the Junction 3 on-slip.

 

Thursday 5^th October closure 1.

M77 northbound Junction 3 to Junction 2 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M77 at Junction 3 and at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit on to Leggatston Drive. At the junction, traffic will turn left on to the A726 Nitshill Road and turn right on to Kennishead Road. At the next junction, traffic will turn left onto Boydstone Road and at the junction, turn left on to the B762 to re-join the M77 northbound at the Junction 2 on-slip.

 

Thursday 5^th October closure 2.

M77 southbound Junction 1 to Junction 2 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M77 at Junction 1 and at the junction, turn right on to Dumbrek Road. Traffic will then turn left on to Mosspark Boulevard, turn left on to Corkerhill Road and at the roundabout, take the 1st exit on to Braircraft Road. At the roundabout, traffic will take the 1st exit on to the B762 and turn right onto Fairchild Avenue to re-join the M77 southbound at Junction 2.

 

Friday 6^th October closure 1.

M77 northbound Junction 5 to Junction 3 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M77 at Junction 5 and at  the roundabout, take the 1st exit. At the Junction, traffic will turn right onto the A77 Ayr Road and follow Ayr Road through Newton Mearns. At Eastwood Toll Roundabout, take the 1st exit on to Routen Glen Road and at Spiersbridge Roundabout, take the 2nd exit on to the A727 Nitshill Road to re-join the M77 northbound at Junction 3.

 

Friday 6^th October closure 2.

A737 northbound Linwood to St James road closure.

Diversion: leave the A737 at Linwood and at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A761 Linwood Road. At the next four roundabouts, take the 2nd exit, and at the fifth, take the 1st exit. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit and follow the A761 to Canal Street. At the traffic lights, follow the road to Gordon Street, Mill Street and Weir Street, before turning left on to St James Steet. Finally, traffic will turn right on to the A726 Greenock Road and follow the road to the St James Interchange.

 

Sunday 8^th October closure 1.

M8 eastbound Junction 30 to Junction 29 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave the M8 at Junction 30 onto the M898 north and leave the M898 at the Spectacles off-slip to take the 3rd exit onto the A726. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit and follow the A726. At Barrholm roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A726 and at Centreholm Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A726. At Southholm Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A726 and at Red Smiddy Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A726. Finally, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A726 and follow Barnsford Road to the St James Roundabout, where traffic will be directed to follow directional signs.

 

Sunday 8^th October closure 2.

M77 northbound Junction 2 to Junction 1 road closure.

Diversion: Traffic will leave M77 at Junction 2 and at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Fairchild Avenue. At the junction, turn left onto B762 and at the roundabout take the 4th exit onto Braidcraft Road. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Corkerhill Road and at the junction, turn right onto Mosspark Boulevard and at the junction, turn right on dumbreck rd to re-join M77 north at Junction 1 on slip.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
