Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential maintenance on the B765/M8 at Stepps Overbridge from Monday 8th March until Sunday 18th April 2021.
The scheme, with a value of £350,000, will benefit around 9235 vehicles using this route each day. The scope of the refurbishment works includes re-waterproofing, resurfacing, and relining the structure, replacing joint expansions, improving drainage, concrete repairs, and footpath improvements. This will improve the overall condition of the structure and reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
The work will be carried out using a combination of daytime and overnight lane closures at this location.
Phased lane closures on the B765 northbound with a contraflow system in place will be required for three weeks that will then switch to the southbound carriageway for a further three weeks. Alternate footway closures will be in place throughout the duration of the scheme with pedestrians managed via designated crossing points before and after the works site. Daytime work will be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5pm, each day.
From Thursday 15th April until Sunday 18th April 2021, overnight lane closures between the hours of 8pm and 6am are required on the M8 beneath Stepps Overbridge. This will also affect the eastbound M8 Junction 11 on-slip road, which will be fully closed to traffic with a signed diversion route in operation.
Northbound traffic on Stepps Road will be diverted via Gartloch Road onto Auchinlea Road, and Westerhouse Road. From here, traffic will be able to join the M8 eastbound at Auchinlea Way Roundabout. Southbound traffic will be diverted via Edinburgh Road onto Wellhouse Road, and Westerhouse Road. At Auchinlea Way Roundabout, traffic will be able to join the M8 eastbound and diversion will end.
Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
