ESSENTIAL RESURFACING AT THE M8 JUNCTION 30 AND M898 NORTHBOUND COMMENCES FRIDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2023 

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential resurfacing works on the M8 Junction 30 off-slip roads to the M898 northbound in two phases between Friday 10th February and Tuesday 28th February 2023. 

This scheme will benefit around 23,800 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future. 

The work will be carried out using two full weekend closures and signed diversions will be in operation. Part of the works will also require the use of contraflow. There will be no works on the M8 mainline carriageway itself. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while these essential works take place.  

The signed diversion will operate as follows: 

• From 8pm on Friday 10th February until 6am on Monday 13th February 2023: full weekend closure of the westbound and eastbound M8 Junction 30 off-slips, becoming a total closure of the M898 northbound through to the A898 northbound on-slip. Traffic will be diverted via the M8 Junction 29 to follow the A726 Barnsford Road to join the A898. 

• From 8pm on Thursday 23rd February until 6am on Friday 24th February 2023: overnight closure of the M8 Junction 30 westbound off-slip. Traffic will be diverted via the M8 Junction 29 to follow the A726 Barnsford Road to join the A898. There will also be lane closures on the M898 northbound and southbound. In addition, there will be a closure of the A82 northbound to A898 southbound slip road, with traffic diverted via the A82 northbound to turn at the Dunglass Roundabout and return southbound, using the southbound slip road to join the A898.  

• From 8pm on Friday 24th February until 6am Monday 27th February 2023: full weekend closure of the eastbound M8 Junction 30 off-slip. Traffic will be diverted via the M8 Junction 29 to follow the A726 Barnsford Road to join the A898. In addition, there will also be a full weekend closure of the M898 northbound off-slip to A726. Traffic will be diverted via the A898 northbound, crossing the Erskine Bridge and joining the A82 northbound to turn at the Dunglass Roundabout and return southbound on the A82 and A898 Erskine Bridge to exit for the A726. A contraflow will be in operation between the M8 off-slips merge and A898 northbound on-slip.  

• From 8pm on Monday 27th February until 6am on Tuesday 28th February 2023: overnight closure of the M8 Junction 30 westbound off-slip. Traffic will be diverted via the M8 Junction 29 to follow the A726 Barnsford Road to join the A898. There will also be lane closures on the M898 northbound and southbound. 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
